Founded in 2005, Salt Marsh Cottage Books is an independent publisher
which originally specialized in books for young readers. Although all of our
books are still appropriate for young readers, we have added titles which are
more likely to appeal to older readers, including collections of serious poetry
and light verse which lampoon today's headlines from various media.
We are located in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, in Beaufort County near
beautiful Hilton Head Island.
While not all of our publications are about the Lowcountry, all of our authors
live or have lived in the Lowcountry and are members of the Island Writers'
Network, which is located on beautiful Hilton Head Island. We are also
members of the Independent Book Publishers Association.
Information about our authors is featured on our Authors page, but we would like to highlight other
individuals without whom we could not offer our selection of books:
L. Jill Briggs provided much of the artwork contained in Chronicles of Life in the
Midwest. She was also the illustrator for Exciting Paths to Healthy Lifestyles.
Artwork of Ann Judge-Wegner appears in Chronicles of Life in the Midwest. Numerous
photographs of Ann are also included in The Bronco Girl, along with several of her
illustrations.
Sansing McPherson served as the chief editor on Chronicles of Life in the Midwest. She is
a graduate of Auburn University and holds an MEd from Kean University. She has
taught English and writing from middle school through college level. Also a writer, she
has published a short story and written two novels: Entangled Ties and Sweat Sisters.
