Lorie Getz presided with Tom Crawford, Greg Smorol, Jane Hill, Will Anderson, Norm Levy, James Edward Thorn,
and Norma Van Amberg attending.
Members voted to approve spending $25.00 for the application to participate in Bravo events scheduled in May.
Lorie will submit the application by the February 1 deadline.
Lynne Miller, president of the Friends of the Library, the scheduled speaker, was unable to attend the meeting.
Lorie noted that Friends would like to collect 10 percent of profits from books sold by IWN authors during their
participation in public reading sessions to be scheduled at the library. Members agreed to this.
A discussion of possible events and readings followed. Lorie reported that Sansing McPherson has suggested a
kickoff event at the library with refreshments and IWN anthology authors reading and signing copies of our two
books and their own.
Lorie also suggested planning three or four structured sessions that will be productive for those attending. Topics
recommended include aspects of writing, editing and publishing, among others. Marilyn Lorenz will schedule a
reading from her book, The Big Blue Gert, and a discussion of writing as a career for a Saturday children’s
Treasurer’s report: Greg reported withdrawals totaling $75.68 for the Christmas party at Dee Merian’s home,
leaving a bankbook balance of $1,864.34 for November 2010.
Members thanked Dee for a great party.
Charlie Thorn reported he has 133 of the second anthology and none of the first IWN book. Charlie and Greg are
to check on books that have been distributed and receivables due. Members are asked to check on the outlets
they have supplied. Tom Crawford noted that Burke’s Pharmacy needs more books to sell. He also suggested we
order reprints of the first anthology to sell during Bravo events.
Jane Hill encouraged members to visit Booksalicious, the new children’s bookstore located in The Promenade in
Bluffton. It has an adult section and features local authors.
Open mike is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Jan. 17 at the Heritage Library.
IWN member Sheila Gale will speak at the Feb. 7 meeting about her adventures with writing and getting
